A villager says she has not seen Drauniivi village in Ra flooded, since 2004 however she is so happy that her family are all safe.

Lavenia Vuata hopes that the road to Rakiraki town is opened soon so they are able to do their Christmas shopping.

“Since the high tide yesterday, the flood came up to the village and the people got worried. Right now since yesterday, we still have no electricity. The village has been in the dark and the road is closed as people want to go out shopping.”

More than twenty families were affected in Drainiivi village, Rakiraki.
