Christmas plans may be put on hold for a few families at Waivou Village in Rewa after five households were forced to relocate today as floodwaters entered their homes.

Salesi Tino whose house was affected says the quick change in weather has forced many to rethink their Christmas plans.

“This year’s Christmas will not a meaningful for us since we are trying to evacuate ourselves and for the time being our plans for Christmas have been put on hold and we are concentrating in saving our stuff and move to the evacuation centre."

Another Villager Unaisi Filomena says they are no strangers to flooding.

“We are still cooking when the water enters our house. The waves from the sea swept in the house."

Filomena says they managed to secure all their belongings before the water entered their home.
