Christmas is a good time to understand the creation and the beauty around us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

While wishing a prosperous Christmas to every Fijian, Catholic Church Archbishop Father Peter Loy Chong says Christmas is not about Christmas trees and Santa Claus, it’s about the salvation.

“The significance of the birth of Jesus the Christ is for the whole of creation, so we are not only talking about the salvation of human kind but also the salvation of this planet.”

Father Loy Chong says it’s important to know the significance of Christmas and not to be carried away by commercials this festive season.

He adds Christmas is also about the saving of our mother earth and it will also teach us about the celestial presence of Jesus Christ.

The Catholic Church will continue with its Christmas mass tonight.
