The terrorist attack at two Christchurch mosques have claimed the lives of two Fijians.

Confirmed dead are the Imam of Lautoka mosque Maulana Hafiz Musa Patel and Fijian citizen Ashraf Ali who moved to New Zealand seven years ago.

Maulana Patel’s passing away was confirmed by his daughter this evening.

Early indication from the family is that they wish to bring late Patel’s body to Fiji on Tuesday.

This will be confirmed with the late Maulana’s family tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the second victim Ali was a permanent NZ resident having moved seven-years-ago.

It took relevant authorities some time to confirm the passing away of Ali as the bodies were kept at the mosque after the shooting yesterday and were moved to the hospital at around midday.

Family members were then allowed to identify their loved ones.

FBC News understands there could be a third victim from Fiji but this is yet to be established.
