Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an Asian national on board a fishing vessel in the Tahitian waters.

Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri says the man is alleged to have been murdered by another crew member who is now in Police custody.

The incident is alleged to have happened on the 30th of last month.

The vessel ran aground on a reef near Gau while on its way to Fiji.

However, the crew was rescued by a local passenger boat on its way to Cicia Lau on Friday.
