Chinese community marks Moon Festival and National day of China

The Chinese community gathered to celebrate their Mid-Autumn and National day of China in Suva today.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo says the festival which is commonly known as Moon Festival signifies the importance of unity.

The Ambassador says festival is where friends and families gather for a meal and view the moon when it is at its fullest.

The festival which is one of the major events in the Chinese calendar marks the end of the summer harvest.

Bo says this celebration coincides with the National Day of China which also marks the arrival of Chinese in Fiji.

The Chinese Association together with the China Cultural Centre will be hosting a cultural event at the Fiji-China Friendship Pavilion at Terry work in Suva tomorrow.
