The Fiji Roads Authority is finalizing plans to re-build the Stinson Parade Bridge and the Vatuwaqa Bridge in Suva.

Roads Minister Parveen Kumar has told parliament that the concept design is ready and construction begins next year.

“The team is working with all stakeholders and in particular with Chinese partners and I’m happy to inform that they are doing the detailed plan and specification of the 2 bridges.”

The government of China will pay for the construction of the Stinson Parade Bridge and the Vatuwaqa Bridge.

Tenders will be issued at the end of 2015 with both bridges to re-open in 2017

Meanwhile, the Rakiraki bridge which was closed in 2013, will open to traffic at the end of next month.
