Chinese businesses now make up the biggest chunk of investors in Fiji.
Industry and Trade Minister Faiyaz Koya confirmed this while addressing a delegation from China this morning.
41 percent of all foreign investments last were from China.
“Such has been the confidence of the Chinese investors in the Fijian economy in the past few years that China currently is the biggest source of foreign direct investment. I therefore urge you to seize this opportunity and join the many investors who have significantly benefitted from the profitable ventures and have in turn contributed to the Fijian economy.”
The delegation which includes multi-million dollars businesses has held talks with government officials and possible local partners.
The Fijian government is hoping there will be some concrete decisions which favour Fiji.
