“I hope that the relationship between the two countries and the people will continue. Just like China’s relationship with other countries – it is not affected after a country holds its elections. We also hope the election will be very smooth and successful.”

However, Bo maintains the Chinese government will not be involved in the election process as they understand it’s an internal affairs and a democratic process.

However, they’re ready to assist the Fijian government in any specific training needed for the backend of the electoral process.

The ambassador says the Chinese government is observing the election closely.
