Today marks National Biodiversity Day and the 2014 theme is My Fiji – Our Island Biodiversity.

An event organised by the Ministry of Environment today saw a number of primary school students gather at Fiji Museum in Suva.

Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Environment Samuela Namosimalua says it’s all about educating children.

He says he personally believes that the key lies in educating young people about how to secure Fiji’s future.

The event was also a good opportunity to launch the National Eco School Challenge and Biodiversity photo contest for schools in Fiji.
