September 13, 2015 7:08 pm

Stress levels, sexual and physical abuse, challenges faced in schools, attitude of teachers and friends are some of the common issues children have raised when calling the Child Helpline.

Child Helpline Project Manager – Peci Baledrokadroka says when the counselors receive calls, they try their best to win their trust so that children can share their problems with them without any hesitation.

“We have identified that neglect which is a form of abuse is on a high rate right now. Children say that they are neglected in schools and even at home.”

The counselors then decide how they can offer assistance.

Baledrokadroka says in most cases children are referred to the Ministry of Children.

The Child Helpline number is 1325 and counselors are available from 6am to 6pm daily.
