Child rape a serious matter: FWCC

July 9, 2015 6:49 pm

Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator – Shamima Ali says the rape of a student in Nakasi, Nasinu this week is just one recent example of sexual abuse of children.

Ali says although authorities are doing what they can, the whole society must look at the issue.

“Incident in Nakasi is utterly shocking and it’s a great sense of shame to the country that this kind of thing is happening with our children. Adult men are doing this kind of thing and it’s about time that men start asking themselves why they are doing this to the children of our country.”
