The Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission has stressed that it’s unacceptable for children to do hard labour.

Human Rights Commissioner Sashi Kiran told FBC News that necessary action will be taken against family members and anyone else who takes advantage of children.

“Well, they will meet the full brunt of the law if that’s what’s required to ensure that the child is protected and if it means giving people a strong message that the children are there to be loved and protected and not to be abused.”
