Central Transport drivers await company's decision

The Central Transport Limited based in Vatuwaqa, Suva has issued letters to their drivers who went on strike yesterday to explain their reasons as to why they walked out on their job.

In response, Ilaisa Jiko, speaking on behalf of the 33 drivers,  says the company will decide what to do based on the drivers reasoning.

Jiko says the company may either terminate their contracts or re-employ them.

However, he adds drivers have resumed duties yesterday afternoon.

Jiko says it will not end here as they will continue to negotiate a good offer with the company.

Earlier yesterday, drivers who went on strike had requested the company to increase its wage from $150 to $300 weekly.

Meanwhile, Employment Minister Parveen Kumar says a team from the ministry has been mobilized to address this issue.
