March 19, 2019 8:00 am
The 33 bus drivers of Central Transport Limited who went on strike yesterday morning have resumed work today.
Speaking on behalf of the drivers Ilaisa Jiko says that they have decided to resume work, however, will continue with their proposal of a pay increment.
Jiko says their proposal to the company is to increase their pay from $150 to $300 weekly.
He says non-union drivers are being paid $3.75 and they want drivers who are part of the transport union to be paid the same.
At the moment, those drivers are being paid $3.45.
Jiko says the company has declined the driver’s demands, but they will continue with the negotiation.
Efforts to get comments from the Central Transport Limited has proved futile.
