The census findings have been finalised and are currently with the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for his perusal.
Senior Statistician from the Bureau of Statistics – Emali Soderberg says the findings are expected to be released later this week.
It’s believed that close to 100 thousand households were covered in the count and Fiji’s population remains close to nine hundred thousand.
Government Statistician and Census Commissioner Epeli Waqavonovono says that close to 98% of the population on the night of the census would have been counted.
More than 2,000 enumerators were tasked with collecting the critical information that will inform future government planning with tablets used for the first time to compile the statistics.
The Census count was carried out in September of last year over three weeks from September the 17th to the 8th of October.
