The Commissioner Western, Commander Joeli Cawaki will end a five-term in office tomorrow to contest the September 17 general election.
Cawaki was farewelled by his staff at a function in Lautoka.
Two months ago I was asked to apply for, to contest the election as FijiFirst candidate and with all that time in the last two weeks I put in my application.
Cawaki said his term in office was very challenging as a result of the natural disasters like Cyclone Evan in 2012 in the Western Division in the past few years.
He said he would have liked to have remained in office to ensure the development programme for the division was completed.
However, he now has a new calling in the political arena.
