Carpenter remanded for alleged theft of cocoa powder

A Carpenter of Nasinu who allegedly stole two bags of cocoa powder from a dwelling house in Nasole, last month was chased by Police with the help of the Police Dog Unit.

19-year-old Waisea Maluikata was arrested after the dogs gave chase catching him.

He is charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft.

Maluikata is alleged to have entered the house of one Paras Ram on the 30th of last month in Nasinu where he stole the chocolate drink mixtures before escaping.

His escape was short lived though, with the incident reported to the Dog Unit which resulted in his arrest.

He appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday.

The case will be recalled on Thursday.

He has been remanded in custody.
