The Sugarcane Growers Council is pleased with the supply of cane by farmers to the respective mills.

Council chief executive officer Sundresh Chetty says that they have noticed a consistent supply of cane to the mills.

“We have seen that there has been a consistent supply of cane by farmers to the mill and particularly we are happy that we also have 60 harvesting machines which has boosted supply so far to date.”

However, Chetty believes that cane farmers can supply even more to the mills.

He adds the harvesting machine program has also assisted cane farmers in the interior to harvest their cane on time.
