Cane payment without deductions this Friday

January 9, 2018 11:30 pm

The Fiji Sugar Corporation has announced that the special and final cane payment will be paid out this Friday and there will be no deductions from this payment.

Those farmers who delivered the cane in the 2016 crop year, will receive $3.05 per tonne.

The final cane price payable for the 2016 season including this top-up will thus increase to $82 per tonne compared to $76.66 per tonne in the 2015 season.

The payment is in line with the announcement in October last year, of a final special cane payment to growers for the 2016 crop, to be paid out before the school term in January 2018.

All payments will be disbursed directly to growers, either by cheque or directly into their bank accounts.

Growers, who have existing crop liens with the Sugar Cane Growers’ Fund, will be paid via the grower’s fund, who will make the deposits directly into the grower bank accounts.
