Cane farmers are now being urged to put in their orders for fertilizers through the Fiji Sugar Corporation.
South Pacific Fertilizers Limited Manager, Ashween Ram, told FBC News that fertilizers will be needed for the new sprouts after cane harvesting.
Ram says the delivery will be done on a first come first serve basis.
Meanwhile, the Sugar Cane Growers Council says these orders must be made now by all cane farmers.
Chief Executive, Sundresh Chetty says fertilizers must be used at the right time for the new sprouts to grow well for the next crushing season.
Chetty says the cane crop estimate for the current crushing season over two million tonnes and this is expected to increase in next year’s crushing season.
