Cane farmer Jhakir Hussein says this is the 2nd year he is receiving the subsidy and he is happy.

He adds, the subsidy will be used to keep his farm FairTrade compliant so he can continue to benefit from the country’s sugar export sales.

FSC Chief Financial Officer Manoj Ram says the farmers will get their share of the subsidy in their bank accounts by next Friday.
