Cane Burning Continuing

Burnt cane supply to Lautoka and the Rarawai sugar mills is on the increase with almost 100 per cent of cane delivered to the mills is burnt.

Fiji Sugar Corporation Executive Chair-Abdul Khan says, industry stakeholders are treating the matter very seriously as they always expect fresh green cane during crushing season.

Over grown weeds and long grass in cane fields, force farmers to burn cane, as hired cane cutters are reluctant to harvest overgrown fields.
