Cane access roads to be ready prior to crushing

The Sugar Cane Growers Council is working closely with the Fiji Sugar Corporation to ensure all cane access roads in the Lautoka and Rarawai sugar sector is ready before crushing.

Crushing at the Lautoka Mill will begin from the third of July while Rarawai Mill in Ba from the seventeenth of next month.

Chief executive, Sundresh Chetty says work has already started in all sectors by the contractors.

Chetty says the current cool and dry weather conditions in the western division is also in their favour.

The FSC field officers were also out to access the progress made on road maintenance.

Chetty says farmers should call the Council or FSC field officers if they need further advice.
