The United Blind Persons of Fiji will be updating their information to ensure that all visually impaired individuals are registered.

Events Consultant, Rajnel Prasad says this will be done during their first ever Cane-a-Thorn from Suva to Nadi in May.

Prasad says they will be stopping in every village along the way to raise awareness and to ensure that all visual impaired Fijians are registered to be a part of the umbrella body.

Prasad says money raised during their Cane-a-Thorn will also help members of their organization with their social welfare needs.

“The funds that is going to be collected from this event will be going back to its members, for their special needs, building a proper facility for them and giving them easy accessibility for everything.”

A total of 40 participants will be participating in the Cane-a-Thorn where 20 are visually impaired individuals together with the assistance of 20 volunteers.

Meanwhile the United Blind Persons of Fiji today received the first sponsorship of $1500 and 40 t-shirts from the HFC Bank.
