The idea of staging a GoFundMe campaign to support a former Parliament employee, Iliesa Raiduduva was initiated by his supporters.

Opposition MP Lynda Tabuya confirms this following the dismissal of Raiduduva by the Fijian Parliament.

Tabuya says the campaign accommodates overseas supporters and is a transparent means of raising funds for the now unemployed Raiduduva.

“I just want to clarify that when we posted and had Iliesa interviewed that day in Nakasi, it was actually from the supporters themselves that they asked to start the Go Fund Me campaign”.

She highlighted that funds raised will be used to cover his tertiary tuition and overall family needs.

Tabuya confirms that Raiduduva has also looked into avenues of redress the relevant authorities.

“But also he has gone to see the Fiji Trade Union Congress to possibly see about filing a complaint to the Labour Department which is his right to do so and which is available at all”.

Tabuya says she will continue to support Raiduduva as a worker and will not interfere with his decision in exploring his options legally between him and parliament.
