Cabinet has revoked the Environment Management (Container Deposit) Regulations and the Environment Management (Waste Disposal and Recycling) (Amendment) Regulations.

Environment Minister Colonel Samuela Saumatua says the revocation will allow all beverage producers and importers to adjust pricing and accommodate deposits under the Environment Management (Container Deposit) Regulations 2011.

It will also allow the Department of Environment to register and establish the Managing Agency.

The agency will administer Fiji’s Container Deposit system, and establish the revolving fund account to receive all deposits paid by producers for all beverages sold.

The Regulations will be re-gazetted once all requirements have been met.
