CAAF investigates plane incident in Yasawa

An incident involving an Islander aeroplane in the Yasawas is being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji.

The plane which was manned by two pilots experienced an issue with the nose wheel on the take roll causing the aircraft to veer to the side and the wing tip to contact a bure post.

CAAF Inspectors travelled to the site to conduct an investigation and review the aircraft and damage.

Three passengers and the pilots escaped injuries in the incident which occurred on Tuesday last week.

CAAF says due to the nature of the event, the investigation is being conducted through the legislated mandatory occurrence reporting process.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the cause was mechanically related.

The General Manager and other senior staff at the Nadi based domestic airline could not be reached for a comment.
