Businesses in Fiji, especially the producers have been asked to be ready to provide rations to people who have been affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
National Disaster Management Director Akapusi Tuifagalele says they are waiting for the competition of all the assessments.
“For example Punja and the others, you know get ready so when the time for you have come to provide for the assistance, you provide. They have to deal with their normal customers that they have every day. I said this is emergency- we are talking of millions of dollars here. We are talking of hundreds of thousands of tonnes- food ration to go out to the people, get you companies ready.”
Tuifagalele adds if the producers here could not supply the required amount of ration, then they will look to international assistance.
