Majority of businesses in Ba town have suffered significant damage after flood waters entered their shops overnight.

Business Owner Dinesh Kumar says the heavy downpour has led to significant flood damage, the extent of which is still being assessed.

“I think by 7 the water was already in our shop and we had close to three or 3/12 feet of water in our shop its quite a big damage.”

Another shop owner Ravijesh Sharma says luckily they had moved their items yesterday and weren’t as affected as some other businesses.

“This place was all filled with mud and things were lying everywhere and when you open the shop there was just a thick pile of mud everywhere and when we came in these guys where cleaning their stuff but lucky we put everything up and nothing was damaged we just had to clean it.”

A number of shop owners also had to discard items in their shop that had been had become a health hazard as a result of the flood damage.
