Yaqara Pastoral Company Limited is beginning to become a profitable business.
While beef is the main revenue earner the company has now started to better the performance in sugarcane farming as well as sheep farming.
Company Chairman Simon Cole says the farm will continue to make a profit.
“Our costs have been controlled and therefore this is what is contribution to the overall profitability of the venture and we look forward to working with Government to continue with this to prove that farming can be a profitable business.”
He added that the drought last year was one of the major challenges to their ventures; impacting sugar cane and cattle sales but that soon normalized.
Sugarcane revenues are up 400 percent profits from what they were.
Yields over 120 tonnes per and the farm also has more than 1000 sheep; the largest in the country.
Earlier this month the company gave back to the Government dividends cheque of just over a million dollars in profits.
