Bush fires cause major power outage

August 29, 2015 8:04 pm

Thirty three thousand volt transmission lines from Ba to Vatukouka tripped yesterday resulting in a power black out to Tavua, Vatukoula, Nadarivatu and Rakiraki for most of the day.

The Fiji Electricity Authority says a bush fire burnt down four wooden power poles along this transmission line.

Restoration works were carried out immediately, however required extensive work as the FEA had to install new poles in place of the burnt ones.
