Bus operators need to have disposable e-cards: Kumar

Complaints about some buses not carrying disposable e-ticketing cards continues to be received by the Consumer Council.

Chief Executive, Premila Kumar says this is unacceptable as they’re not complying with the law.

She says bus operators should ensure their buses carry disposable e-ticketing cards.

“We have done a survey where we have found that there are a number of buses which were running without disposable cards and we have highlighted this matter to LTA. The Bus operators need to understand that if they are not going to give disposable cards to the drivers, then obviously drivers will take money from the passengers and they will keep it in their pocket.”

Kumar says disposable cards were introduced for tourists and passengers who don’t have e-ticketing cards.

She says it’s important for drivers to carry disposable cards at all times as sales made from this can be easily accounted for.
