Bus fleet suspended

June 3, 2014 1:26 pm

The Land Transport Authority has grounded the fleet of Empire Buses in Ba for three months.

Empire Buses owner Arjit Singh says last Friday LTA officials inspected the buses and issued a notice to suspend services as of Monday afternoon.

However, they did make a few runs yesterday after frustrated members of the public called, asking for services.

Singh says LTA then visited his office and said bus drivers would be fined if they disregarded the suspension order.

The Empire Bus fleet has been deemed un-roadworthy.

Singh says the suspension will have a huge impact on Empire Buses and some of staff could be laid off.

LTA Chief Executive Naisa Tuinaceva could not be reached for a comment.
