Bus driver involved in fatal Lakena accident to front court

The bus driver who was involved in an accident that claimed the lives of two children has been charged.

He has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and one count of dangerous driving.

The accused will be produced in a special sitting in the Nausori Magistrates Court this morning.

Police have also confirmed that a separate investigation is ongoing regarding the actions of the driver of a private car who allegedly refused to give way to the bus before the tragic accident occurred.

Communities in Lakena Number Two Hill, Nausori are still in shock following the tragic bus accident earlier this week.

The bus tumbled down the hill and flipped over, claiming the lives of two school students.

Two other students are still admitted in the hospital in serious condition while seventeen others were treated for injuries and sent home.
