A student who was injured in a bus accident last year has received a wheelchair so that he can move around freely.

Meli Taivei of Kalabu, Nasinu was presented the wheelchair by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

The Year 8 student of Kalabu District School injured his right leg in the accident last year and has faced severe difficulties moving around.

The new wheelchair was donated by the Spinal Injury Association.

In May last year, the bus carrying students went off the road and hit other students who were walking to the nearby Kalabu Primary School.

Dozens of passengers were injured in the early morning accident.
