Building permits worth around $69m issued

Over 400 building permits for construction work valued at over $69 million dollars were issued by the City and Town Councils and Rural Authorities in the September quarter of last year.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, when compared to the June quarter, the permits issued increased by 9.9 percent, while the corresponding value of work fell by 24.7 percent.

When compared to the same quarter of 2016, the number of permits issues fell by 1.7 percent.

Western Division accounted for the highest number of permits which stood at 53.7 percent, followed Central and Eastern Division which accounted for 41.4 percent while the Northern Division accounted for 4.9 percent.

The total value of Completion Certificates issued stood at $26.2m, an increase of 4.1 percent when compared to the June quarter.
