The Agriculture Ministry is urging those living in dairy farm areas to assist them in their Brucellosis and TB eradication campaign.

The Ministry has set-up a BTEC Operations Center at the Fiji Veterinary Pathology Laboratory to better coordinate its activities.

Acting Deputy Secretary, Agriculture Development Tomasi Tunabuna says Bovine TB is a chronic disease which cannot be eradicated easily.

“We also trying to get support from the local communities in terms of how we can execute the program and for that we’ll need to get the public to know the consequences if we don’t really follow the plan.”

Tunabuna says the BTEC team is currently carrying out testing and surveillance programs on infected areas in Tailevu, Naitasiri, Serua and Namosi.
