Brothel manager sentenced

A woman who owned and operated a massage parlour in Suva has been sentenced to five months imprisonment by the Suva Magistrates Court.

Geeta Mani was found guilty of managing a brothel in Samabula in 2010.

She was initially charged with two counts of managing a brothel, but was acquitted of first count but was convicted of the second count.

Mani employed six women at the parlour who performed sexual acts with her clients for money.

During the sentencing, the court, also highlighted the women were not paid their salaries while working at the parlour.

Mani’s lawyer, Jiten Reddy, has confirmed they will be appealing the sentence.
