Women in Fiji will now have a better understanding of Family Law Act.

Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Executive Director Tara Chetty made this comment after having launched a new set of Family Law Act Brochures which explains various aspects of the Act.

Chetty says the brochures will empower women often left in highly vulnerable situations.

“These brochures contain the exact and correct information for anyone wanting to access the services. These brochures will be available both at the Court House but also at the Women’s Centres around the country.”

Chetty says they want to ensure that women, particularly marginalized women receive the crucial information they need in accessing legal institutions and services.

FWRM had published similar brochures in 2007, which were used by the Family Court, but had become outdated following amendments to the Act.
