Bribery 4 sentenced

The High Court has sentenced 4 men found guilty of a 3 million dollar scam at the former Department of National Roads.

Feroz Jan Mohammed – the Director of T.F Jan Bulldozing has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment with a minimum term of 5 years.

Iliesa Turagacati who was an Acting Project Accountant with the DNR will serve 6 years behind bars with a minimum of 4 years before parole.

Navitalai Tamanitoakula also a former civil servant has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment with a minimum of 2 and a half years before parole
Aisea Liwaiono a former road engineer has been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment – suspended for 2 years.

Mohammad, Turagacati and Tamanitoakula were found guilty of Bribery, Obtaining a Financial Advantage and Abuse of Office while Liwaiono has been charged with Causing a Loss.

Feroz Mohammad, paid $110,000 in bribes and was able to lodge false invoices and circumvent procedures to obtain just over $3 million.
