Brave Ba firefighters awarded

Twenty-seven year old Swastika Archana Raju, yesterday thanked fire fighters from Ba for rescuing her when she was in labour during the height of tropical cyclone Josie.

The mother of three said the professionalism and care by the firefighters during rescue efforts was commendable.

The certificates of bravery were awarded to seven officers from the Ba Station which includes Sub Officer Simione Qiolevu, Leading Firefighter Kinijoji Cakobau, Rashid Ali, Inoke Raleba, Kalaveti Vatuinaruku, Josaia Vakalala and Josefa Waqabaca.

While giving out the certificates, Minister for Local Government Parveen Bala says they salute the heroes of the Ba National Fire Authority for their bravery, resourcefulness and ability to fully execute their rescue plan.
