Brace for cooler nights from next week

A heavy rain alert remains in effect for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

Alert also remains for the Eastern half of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti and the Northern Lau Group.

Acting Director for the Fiji Meteorological Services, Viliame Vereivalu says the current weather is attributed to a trough of low pressure that is slow moving to the North of Fiji.

He says, the windy and rainy conditions should begin to ease over the weekend.

“Yes, exactly that is what we forecast in our seven days outlook from today, tomorrow and I think it will be cleared on Saturday and we are forecast from Sunday, Monday we’ll be having fine weather and cool nights.”

Meanwhile, Vereivalu notes they are expected to reassess their cyclone forecasting from next week.

He says this is part and parcel of reviewing the weather patterns and what Fiji can expect with the Cyclone season in effect.
