A new form of crime now has the Fiji Police Force worried.

It seems criminals have moved up from fake notes to bogus cheques.

Police Spokesperson – Ana Naisoro says three men have been charged with multiple offences including obtaining goods by deception, obtaining financial advantage by deception and dishonesty causing a loss.

They were allegedly using the bogus cheques to purchase products and yet afterwards, they were selling these products to other business operators. Police are now advising people to be mindful when dealing with cheques.

Naisoro says businesses need to be cautious of sales involving cheques especially if the buyers operate over the phone.
