The public can expect boat services to be made available in the event of a natural disaster such as floods.
Disaster Management Committee director, Patiliai Dobui says the government has arranged for boats to be on standby and ready for use during floods.
“The arrangements have been done by the Commissioner Western with the boat owners from Denarau and also with other boat owners and an MOU will be signed soon.”

Dobui says these arrangements have been made particularly for residents in Nadi because of the frequency of severe floods in the town and surrounding areas.
He adds a flood strategy has been drawn up which includes a committee that will look into resources used during floods
