Board to inquire Fijian troops detention

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces was asked why the Fijians had been taken captive since the UNDOF mission isn’t directly involved in the conflict in Syria.

RFMF Commander Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga says a Board of Inquiry by the military and the United Nations will look into what really transpired on that day.

“I think we can all understand the circumstances of the battle or conflict make their own determination on things .Most things cannot be pre-empted to the point where you know the intension of the other person although you can make predicts on the intension on the other party but the situation as it actually happens and develops can only determine by the instance decision on the commanders on the ground.”

A thanksgiving service will be held at the military barracks in Lautoka today with one in Suva next Sunday.

The RFMF has commended the families of the soldiers and the rest of Fiji for coming together to pray for the safety of the forty five men.
