Blessed to be alive

February 24, 2016 9:35 pm

Tears can only tell the story of what fifty-six year old Tomasi Tuivuna went through at the height of Cyclone Winston.

He counts himself as one of the lucky ones to have survived TC Winston.

‘’If you see the damage, this says it all, even for me i am old but i manage to be strong and survive the whole night, all i can hear is children crying and families running around for shelter’’.

Having only a few clothes in his possession, Tuivuna says he is blessed to be alive.

‘’I was in the house when the roof went off, so i ran and hid under the table and the next thing i know half of the house was gone, i ran to the back of the church to find shelter and when i looked back my house was no longer there’’.

Tuivuna is undecided as to how he will rebuild his life again as everything he hoped for has been destroyed.

With furniture, eating utensils and bedding completely destroyed, Tuivuna is hoping that someone will be able to help him and his village of Qoma.
