Blackout affects water supply

The power blackout being experienced around Viti Levu will have an impact on water supply in the Central Division.

Water Authority of Fiji spokesperson Fulori Turaga says the unplanned power outage had affected their pumping stations.

All areas within the Suva-Nausori corridor, the Rewa Delta, areas in Tailevu South that are drinking from our Raralevu reservoir, Korovou, Tailevu, Ratu Kadavulevu Schoo, QVS, Naboro, Navua, Nayagi and Deuba. The high areas along these places will also be experiencing low pressure and intermitted supply during the day. Customers are advised to use water sparingly.

Meanwhile, Fiji Electricity Authority says their engineers are working on the Wailoa Station in Monsavu.

It’s unclear at this stage what caused the disruption and when power will be restored.

FEA says they supplying power from the diesel power plants in Kinoya and the Vuda Power Stations.
