Biosecurity Fiji to meet exporters

December 30, 2015 5:05 am

The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji will be meeting the Fiji Fresh Produce Exporters Association members tomorrow.

FFPEA members are claiming to have ceased exports since 23rd December, however BAF has refuted this claim.

Executive chair Xavier Riyaz Khan says BAF records reveal that nine fresh produce exporters, out of which two are members of FFPEA have been exporting normally.

Khan says the proposed meeting tomorrow will help iron out any issues the Association members may have.

“There are a few things that have been implemented – for example the fees and charges have been an issue – it has been implemented after thorough consultation process – so the proposed meeting by the president – maybe we’ll be able to iron out issues that we don’t know of."

Khan says BAF will not compromise the export standards of the Fijian agro-produce at any level – including at the farm of pack house.
