National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad lashed out at Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence Acting Chair Howard Politini this afternoon.
Prasad claims Politini refuted a submission made by the NFP Youth Wing last week Friday.
Prasad claims youth representative, Dylan Kava made a submission to the Committee regarding the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
He says Kava’s submission was labelled unconstructive by Politini.
“I’ll interrupt you right now. Your contribution, this morning is non-constructive. We had a youth wing before you, very constructive on the ratification of these treaties. You’re beginning to sound like your leader. Be constructive in your contribution when you come to this house!”
Prasad says Politini’s comment and agitated manner was most unbecoming of a Member of Parliament.
He adds as MP’s they must know and understand the role of a parliamentary committee.
The Party Leader says when the youth are concerned it’ s significantly important their voices are heard.
Meanwhile, Committee Chair, Netani Rika today apologised to the Party for the comments made.
